A God Who Abundantly Pardons

Isaiah 55:7 KJV

7 Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts: And let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; And to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

PARDON, n. Forgiveness; the release of an offense or of the obligation of the offender to suffer a penalty or to bear the displeasure of the offended party. We seek the pardon of sins, transgressions, and offenses.

Who deserves to be pardoned?

When it comes to presidential pardons:

•     There is always much debate about who is considered worthy to a Pardon.

As the world system operates:

•     it often comes down to convicted individuals having connections to the right people,

•     or those whose freedom fits into a strategic political statement or agenda, who ultimately receive pardons.

Unlike mankind’s system

God abundantly (Fully) pardons,

not based on who you know or if you fit into a political agenda

but rather based on who God is

Distorted Image of GOD

Many have the idea that God is sitting up in heaven

•     with a big gavel

•     just waiting for you to mess up

•     so He can pounce on you and make you pay for your sins.

God wants ALL people to be saved

1 Timothy 2:3–6 KJV

3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

God wants to pardon you

You don’t have to be a celebrity

You don’t have to have political connections

God has already taken care of the death sentence of Sin

Colossians 2:13–14 KJV

13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

•     He canceled out the charges against you

Through Christ, you have been set free

Romans 8:2 KJV

2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

Gods pardon does more than just set you free

•     His pardon set’s you free from the penalty of sin

•     His pardon leads you to holiness

•     His pardon offers eternal life
