“For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.”
In this Podcast, we discuss the fact that:
The Heart of the Believer needs to be purified
Even though we have Christian Liberty, we are not lawless
We are under the Authority of God
We have responsibilities under the Law of Christ
The Heart is purified by Faith, not by the Law
2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1
Titus 2:11-14
James 4:8
1 Peter 1:22
1 John 3:3
Acts 15:5-11
The Willing Servant
Christian Liberty
not intended for Self gratification
Shouldn’t be used as a stumbling block for others
Same Paul Said:
Stand fast in Liberty (Galatians 5:1)
He made himself a servant to all (1 Corinthians 9:19-27)
These two statements do not contradict one another
Galatians is dealing wth the sufficiency of Salvation through faith in Jesus Christ alone; apart from the law.
1 Corinthians 9 is dealing with the believers attitude and relationship with other believers
1 Corinthians 9:19-22
Paul wanted to convey
Even though he didn’t observe Mosaic Law when with the Gentiles
He was still under the Authority of God
To concede or not to concede
The Christian should never concede to those who claim there is an element of Law keeping; in order to gain or keep Salvation.
“It is Finished” was the cry from the cross (John 19:30)
Every Believer should “stand fast” for the Truth
The Christian should be willing to concede personal “rights”
1 Corinthians 9:19-22,27
Philippians 2:1-8
The Law of Christ
Christians are not under the Law of Moses (John 1:17, Galatians 2:16)
Christians are under the Law of Christ (Galatians 6:2)
Responsibilities taught in the New Testament under the Law of Christ
Ephesians 4:22-32
Colossians 3:5-25
These are responsibilities that the Believer now has
not a means of self-justification
When we attempt to justify ourselves or earn favor with God by our works
We make a disgusting mess
